Willem GERRITSZ Vlaming van Vlieland
On February 2, 1631, Willem Gerritsz Vlaming was born on Vlieland. His father was named Gerrit Willemsz Vlaming.
On February 29, 1652, he married a certain Holckjen Floris, who came from Stavoren and was three years younger than him, at the town hall in Stavoren.
On January 29, 1653, they had their first child, a son named Gerrit Willemsz Vlaming, who was born in Amsterdam. It seems that mother Holckjen had sailed to the capital specifically for the delivery! Later, the family moved to Amsterdam.
On May 15, 1655, a second son followed, also in Amsterdam: Floris, but apparently this child died, because on November 15, 1656, another boy was again named Floris Willemsz Vlaming. This child also died (in 1659 in Amsterdam) and was buried in Stavoren. On April 6, 1661, Holckjen gives birth to a baby girl: Avrsjen (Agatha?).
On April 26, 1664, tragedy strikes again: son Gerrit dies in Amsterdam at the age of eleven. He, too, is buried in the church of Stavoren.
More cheerful news is that their only remaining son, Floris, marries Christine van Beek in 1678, and their only daughter marries the following year. Four years later, she gives birth to a baby boy, but two days after the birth, the mother dies, and not long after that, the child also passes away.
The children of Floris Willemsz Vlamingh and Christine van Beek lived longer:
- October 14, 1678 Willem Florisz Vlaming. Marries Catharina Theodora Beek (in Leiden) in 1707.
- March 29, 1686 Pieter Vlaming. Marries Wijnanda Kalkoen (in 1706). They have a daughter Christina Vlaming (named after his mother).
- April 6, 1690 Agatha Vlaming. This girl was named after her father's sister, but then her mother Christine dies, and from that day on she is called Christina Agatha.
Father Floris Willemsz Vlaming remarries Agneta Blok (widow of Anthony Blok).
